Consumer perception
It all started in 1984 when Vincent Tan bought a controlling stake in Berjaya Industrial Berhad and 4 years later saw a major restructuring. There was a lot of acquisition, changes and evolution of the group in the following years until 2005 when a major group restructuring exercise saw Berjaya Corporation Berhad took over the listing status of Berjaya Group Berhad. Under the group, several very successful subsidiaries which are public listed companies now operate which include:
- Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad
- Berjaya Land Berhad
- REDtone International Berhad
Besides that, the group owns several top football clubs including the Cardiff City Football Club, FK Sarajevo and co-ownership of Los Angeles FC, among others. This seeks to strengthen Berjaya’s brand in its customer base where it has already been successful in other brands including McDonald’s’, Digi.com, 7-Eleven and many others.
