The Man who brought World Cup and World-class Ports

The 14th richest man in Malaysia is Tan Sri Datuk G Gnanalingam. Unknown to many, he is the man responsible in forming Westports Malaysia, one of the top ports in the world today. A leader in the logistics industry, Tan Sri Gnanalingam worked his way up to make Westports what it is today which is among the leaders in the global cargo industry.

Tan Sri Gnanalingam is of Sri Lankan Tamil heritage and enjoyed very significant success prior to what he is doing today. In Westports, he adopted the ‘flexi-port and fast port’ concept which changed the logistics industry altogether.

He was once employed by British American Tobacco when he advocated the idea of bringing live World Cup matches to Malaysian TV in the 80s. Apart from that, Tan Sri Gnanalingam owns some shares in Pelikan, one of the top producers of pencils and stationeries in the region.
