The company’s primary business dwell in the areas of leisure and hospitality, property development and also in power generation, oil & gas as well as in biotechnology. Its Genting Resort is one of the most prominent landmarks in Malaysia that house a theme park, a world class casino in the highlands. It also manages the Norwegian Cruise Line, the Star Cruise as well as Resorts World in Genting and in Singapore.
The group was founded by the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong in 1965 when he developed the Genting Highlands Resort, 2000 meters above sea level. It is now known as Resorts World Genting is one of the leading entertainment resorts in the region where it has attracting 19.5 million visitors in 2009 alone. The group is now being managed by Tan Sri Lim’s son, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay who is the current Chairman and Chief Executive of the company. It has since expanded its operation from leisure and hospitality into plantation, oil and gas as well as in power generation.
